Line6 Guitar Pod

My kid wants me to buy the Line 6 pod for recording guitar. Is there a (free) plugin chain that will give me the same functionality? Thanks, Doug

Probably, but my experience is that getting a free vst chain that sounds great requires copious amounts of tweaking, not to mention that you'll have to realtime monitor your sound (which can be a problem on large projects). IMO, all the time spent with vsts is wasted when I could just get a POD and dial in a sound in a minute or less as opposed to a half-hour or more of vst-tweaking for a single sound. I think it's money well spent.

Indeed, and speaking with the sadness of someone who recently sold a MK.1. Pod for almost nothing, I can say this : their second hand value is about that of the DI box you'd be needing to get the guitar into the VST anyway.

I love my POD XT Live... If I trade up it'll be for the X3 Live. Very nice tool for both studio and stage. D

Doug, If you're just using it for recording into a computer, check this... . This includes software and provides an interface to connect your guitar to the computer. ;) I use a 'UX 2' and love it.
