v 2.99 question

now that an alpha version has been released for version 3.0 does this mean that v 2.99 has ceased development? will a 'proper' release of 2.99 happen or was it a development platform for v 3.0? i'm only asking as my licence is good only until v 2.99 and although i dearly want to upgrade to v 3.0 my student loan dictates that i wait until the end of april before i can afford to :(

There won't be a 2.99. If important bugs are discovered we will continue to update the 2.5x series. But the next release containing new features will be 3.0. As always, Reaper development is ongoing, so the lack of your desired new feature in 3.0 doesn't mean it won't be in 3.x.

hi schwa, thanks for the reply :) i am more than happy to continue using version 2.54 i just wondered about the development of 2.99. i will, of course, be purchasing a new license and upgrading to version 3 when i can afford to and it's no problem using 2.54 until then (indeed it is a privilege to use such excellent software at such a keen price). i will just be jealous of all those using version 3 until that time!

License Terms Purchasing a license for REAPER v2.x entitles the user to use, on one computer at a time, past and future versions of REAPER up to and including v3.99. If you bought a 1.xx license, then you're only good up to 2.99.

yep i recently traced back the date of my license - i bought it a few weeks before version 2 was released :( oh well... seriously though its no biggie. i will gladly pay for the right to use version 3 when i have the spare funds. i would much rather give cockos my hard earned cash than many other daw companies :)
