PT, Mackie HUI, and Keyboard???

I have a Protools TDM on a Mac G3 running 9.1. I have a Mackie HUI board which works fine when hooked up to Protools too. Everything works. Now, my question is how do I hook up a Keyboard/Synth via MIDI? The HUI as 1 in and 1 out. The Keyboard has 1 in, 1 out and 1 thru, and my Midiman MIDI interface has 1 in and 3 outs. Can I can connect it all together or do I need another MIDI interface? Does OMS have to detect this before it works? Do I have to configure it?

Hi, I would start with the simple solution which "should" work since it works for me, but since you have a different set-up it might need some extra tweaks. Of course there are some workarounds depending on what "drives" what in the chain, but with: Keyboard MIDI out to PT MIDI in, PT MIDI out to HUI MIDI in, HUI MIDI out to Keyboard MIDI in. You should be able to record MIDI from KB to PT, play MIDI from PT to KB and/or HUI and from HUI to PT.

I've got PT 6.1 digi 001 /w Mac G4 using the Mackie HUI and the Yamaha Motif ES6.... I use the midisport 2x2 In the midi setup you need to make sure to have : digi (1,2), Keyboard, Midi 1/3. now assuming you midi 1/3 is usb then all you need to do is etiher connect the ins and outs of the digi to the keyboard... or the midi 1/3 to the keyboard, next hit the details or more proporty and enable all the midi channels including time clock and stuff ...on all devices.......thats it...Now connect the actual midi cords from the midi 1/3 to the keyboard (in and out )... check your midi things in the midi tab in pt ...like the beat clock and stuff like you did the hui ....make sure you keyboard is set for midi control and BOOM ..pt is controlling everyting ....ehhe( that's the poor man's way )
