Hello People. Merry Christmas to you all, and Happy new year! Anyway, does anyone have any experiences with Radweld? I have put some in my 940 turbo and it seems to of made it leak more. Do you reckon it is possible that it has blocked up somewhere? I had to have a new heater hose a month ago because it burst. I noticed that there was not any pressure in the hoses even when it was hot. The heater is working fine, chucking out hot air but the expansion tank does pressure up. Any ideas please!!!! Cheers Kieron:Banane32:
Hi, Rumour has it that it can gunk up your heater matrix. Getting a leak there is no fun to deal with, but it may put additional strain on an already collapsing system.. Des. . . ;)
I tried radweld on my Mk1 1500 cortina, (a LONG TIME AGO) which had a weep on a radiator tube. It achieved absolutely nothing at all, so lost faith in the stuff!
It was and is Bars Leaks. Still avaliable and the best bar none providing that the instructions are followed to the letter. Don't forget to stir up all the stuff that lurks in the bottom of the can and pour that into the radiator as well. Little known fact, a local Aston Martin dealer used to use this stuff on a regular basis in the wet linered DB fours , fives and sixes. Pookie

I have only used Radweld once and thatbwas on an Avenger back in the mid-seventies (after a shunt on Park Lane in London). The Radweld was very effective in that it stopped all of the radiator leaks and let me go for quite a time without having to get a new radiator. Mid-seventies ... jings I'm getting on ...

Have used Radweld in the past on a Rover SD1.It stopped the radiator leak but after a short while the heater stopped working, I had to disconnect the hoses to the matrix and spend a lot of time flushing and back flushing to get rid of the blockage in the heater matrix. All due to rad weld.Wouldn't bother using it again. Hope you all had a very good Christmas and the new year proves happy and prosperous to all. David

I've used Radweld, Barrs Leaks and C-lit in the past with success on older (pre1980ish) systems. More recently the heater matrixes blocked on a Nissan Bluebird and Vauxhall Senator - so I would never use sealants again on 'modern' cars. I think the heater matrixes must be very fine to be so efficient and therefore prone to blocking by sealants.
