Auto-Start REC

Can Reaper trigger REC from the audio input, regardless if it's midi or audio in? This way the instant I trigger midi drums(w/my keyboard via midi), or audio routed into Reaper, it starts recording precisely on the one beat. So there would be no precount like this. I usually do the precount/roll in when recording VSTi's...but I'm trying to grab drum beats off my keyboard.

For midi you could use your foot pedal for instance to trigger the recording, you won't need it for midi drums anyway (or do you?). For audio: I haven't tried it but eventually you could use ReaGate's midi output!?

maybe you can write simple JS script in FX effect od triggered track, to run it. If signal > min then send MIDI message (midi CC) routed to Reapers midi in, and make connection in Reaper this CC to Rec in. Should be not a problem.

I have used Reaper for 9 days now so I think, you should write request at JS forum, and maybe someone has this already written, maybe somebody will write one for you. Here is simmilar request: MIDI CC can trigger any action from menu Actions

i've wanted this ability to. I think there should just be "record" and "stop recording" markers. if we want to be technical they'd be more like: if the cursor gets here and record isn't engaged, then record. if the cursor gets here and record is engaged, stop recording.
