Help, new A7V333-X system wont boot

That PSU should work fine, it just doesn't give you the ability to adjust the fan manually. Hook the heatsink/fan directly to the PSU instead of the motherboard.

Hi Allen, Thanks for the fast response. I have tried reseating tha RAM, no luck so far. I'm going to have to start returning h/w. You mention that I should try one RAM stick in the 1st slot... I am only using one stick (is one stick OK?) and have tried all slots, not sure if the 1st slot is the one nearest to the CPU though. I think I read somewhere that ASUS have a list of "qualified" RAM, but I haven't been able to find this on the global site. My supplier (Aria in the UK recommended the use of this RAM)

Neil, I just found out today that the A7V333-X was revised to handle FSB333 processors and may not be backward compatible with FSB266. I'd call Asus tech support and get the real scoop. Don't email them or it will take a week before you get an answer. The new revision is 2.01. Allen

Ok, here is the scoop. The A7V333-X had a PCB revision to allow it to run the newer FSB333 processors XP2500+ and above, but it is still backward compatible with FSB266 processors down to 700 Mhz Duron. I suspect you either have a bad processor or bad ram. I'd start with the ram. Allen

I thought the new rev. for the A7V333-X was 2.01. Is it? Or is it 2.06?

Hi, Well I reckon it is 333 FSB, there is a sticker on the board that say's so. I can't actually see a rev number on the MB though (I'm past 40 now, so I guess I must be losing my sight a bit ) Actually, I don't think this is the issue though, as I'm using a AMD Athlon "Thoroughbred" XP 2100+ (AIUHB a high-end TBredB). I think this CPU is 266FSB... Is that a problem with the RAM I'm using?
