I know there use to be a guide for this on the Ifoedit forum, when it used to be there. I belive Movie-Guru made it. There is a way to take the first VOB file, Rempeg it, and then put it back in with the other VOB files to reduce size. If anyone knows how to do this please help me, or point me in the right direction thanks.
move vob1 to another directory. open it with vobedit demux by cell_id rejoin all demuxed vobs back into a new vob1 rempeg this new vob1 open original vob1 with vobedit and remux the newly created m2v file save into original directory.
Hey has anyone tried this and gotten this to work on a playstation 2? I re-encoded the last VOB a few times, and it works great on my JVC standalone, but when I try to play it on my PS2 it says unable to read disk when it gets to the part I re-encoded. Please help, thanks.
Then you forgot to IfoEdit it, after remuxing/joining. The VobUnit (NavPack) pointers need to be adjusted after remuxing. VobEdit doesn't do that, so you need to run it through IfoEdit again.
DirtyAbdul, actually, you need to open the log file that vobedit creates and rejoin/rempeg only the cells in their own cell id's. like this...if the log file looks something like this: 1 - 7/8 2 - 8/9 3 - 1/4 4 - 2/4 5 - 3/4 6 - 4/4 7 - 1/6 8 - 2/6 etc. you can only rejoin/remux # 3-6. you can't transcode over a cell_id spread. ie: rejoin/remux 6-7...see how it jumps into another cell spread. can't do this. sorry for the update on how i do this, but i have been lucky in the past and the vob's i choose had only their parts in them. i hit a dvd that was like the example above and it messed up. check out mpucoders how-to: chumboy
Hi all I have follow all the thread, but I have not find any1 mention the mux capability of ReMpeg. I did serveral DVDs with ReMpeg and IfoEdit only. Here is the how i did: ReMpeg & ReMux each VOB with ReMpeg1.52 After that I run IfoEdit to correct the IFO file. Every single movie looks good. One thing that I did not do as suggested thread. I always use Limit Max 9800 and set I=115%, P=105% B=100%. With these your picture improve alots. I never break-down by the CellID then merge them back. I just transcode them right out from the box. Maybe Break-down by Cell ID is the way to go with TMPG or CCE encoder. I will try this out tonight. Hope this help. FWMan
I find FWMan's method interesting. I checked out Rempeg's remux method and it seems valid, but I've had a problem getting a burnable structure or the structure burns but doesn't work on a desktop. After you remux all the vob's, what do you have IFOEdit do specifically and which version do you use?
DenFussell Matter in fact. These are the way i use the software. IfoEdit use for create IFO files, TMPG template (sometime) ReMpeg - Resize and Remux TMGP - Rezise only and DVD2AVI - D2V project. I think, that's all I need. and It's fast. FWMan
DirtyAbdul. The newly VOB < 1G play perfect in my Apex... All other audio streams/subtitle works. I did not copy the menu though... cuz I'm try to preserve the quality :-). Try it out, then you wil see.. Re-produce a complete DVD-9 to DVD-5 without resource to any DVD expensive DVD authoring... it's my goal. FWMan
