I've a 3 hour movie and i want to burn it to 3 cds, but in the 2nd pass you can only use a file size smaller than 1Gb. I think this is easy to fix because it must already be a long int, but i don't now much about windows programming.
What are you talking about? I've done plenty of XviD movies that were >1GB in size... Could you please tell us what isn't working for you? Do you get errors or something?
When i use the 2nd pass in 2 pass mode under windows the field of the xvid video size can't be set bigger than 1Gb, when i type a value bigger than 1Gb it is reduced to 1Gb.
This may belong to this thread or not but anyway I thought it worth while mentioning anyway. I sometimes get the reverse of bergi's problem. Some times (particularly with cartoon's or anime's) the encoded filesize is much less than programmed. I nearly always shoot for a 2 cd, 2 pass encode (xvid) as I want the best quality. Therefore my target filesize is 1400mb in total. However the resulting filesize is no more than 900 to 1000mb. No matter what settings I choose I cannot get the bigger filesize (and increase in quality?) I would appreciate any ideas on this one. Gazza
@Gazza: In case the lowest quantizers and highest bitrate is already in use, you can still boost quality and size by enhancing your videos resoution. The higher the resolution, the more bits/pixel are needed to make the video look good.
i had a prob with an xvid coming up short in size - my 1st pass was 1300 mb.. the second was 590 mb.. (i wanted it 800 mb) i knew it wasnt hitting max q cause the 1st pass was so big.. anyways.. there is a guide on doom9 on using gordianknots stat editor with xvids.. just hit a few buttons and poof.. then just redid my second pass with the new stat file and it came out about 800 mb like a needed the guide is xvid stat file editing with gknot.. should be able to located it in the page that lists all the guides
I started again with 1st pass. My actual final avi file size (after 2nd pass) is ~950mb. I tried the stats file editor approach but could not get it to compute - probably due to fact 2nd pass file size (1400mb was the target) is more than the max 1.2gb. I will increase resolution further but gknot highlights the w-zoom window in gknot goes red when I start to increase. Is this likely to be a problem? What is the max resolution I can go for? Gazza
