Augigy 2 Platinum

Does any one out there use Sound blaster's Audigy 2 Platinum sound card? I decided to get myself a half decent sound card (Audigy 2 Platinum) but cannot get a MIDI/joystick port to work, I know I could use the MIDI in on the front panel, but I need the joystick port to supply power to my MIDI keyboard. I've enabled the MIDI input in the preferences dialogue and set it in the track to all channels, I've switched the monitor on and armed record but cannot get the keyboard to play anything, not even a MIDI activity red light. Frustrating thing is I've only just got it working on my crap sound card and now that I've invested in a good one (I hope) it won't work!!!! I'm guessing that there is something I'm not doing on the sound card side of things rather than in Reaper, so if any one out there is familiar with Sound blaster's Audigy 2 Platinum sound card, I'd be grateful for some help?

Remote unit 

Sorry, forgot to add, can I use the remote control unit supplied with the Audigy 2 Platinum to control Reaper's transport functions? I've added Reaper to the list of applications and get the on screen messages such as 'play' or 'Record' but they just don't do anything???

Sorry I'll not be of big help here. I googled a bit and found out that you're not alone with MIDI-in not working on the gameport MIDI: Same on Ubuntu: Since it seems to be OS independent, the hint at the end of this thread may be right. I once had such a keyboard with a gameport MIDI connector. It had a 9V jack and could be powered by batteries - no such thing on yours? For the other problem - did you try to assign the keys from the remote in Reaper's action menu?

I could use a 9v power supply, but with my home studio, power outputs are at a premium and cabling can be messy, but if that's how it has to be I'll have to live with it. I'll try your advice on the remote and let you know. Thanks once again, you always seem to go out of your way to help.
