The old Lucas driving lights would be good, but unless you can find some at an autojumble, you'll be lookng at new lamps. Trouble is most are black matt finish these days, so you might need to go to an independent accessory shop and see if they will let you have a look through catalogues etc. The chrome badge bar sounds nice, but decent lamps will be heavish, and will wobble, so to stiffen the bar up you might consider running a stiffening bar fron the badge bar, through the plastic grill, and mounting onto the metalwork behind the grill. You would have to make this stiffener easily removable, so you could still get the grill off. If you are looking at a badge bar, you need to talk to your local friendly accessory shop again to see what brackets/clamps there are to mount the lamps on the badge bar, as I think most lamps come with a mounting suitable for a 'flat' surface type mount. Provided you don't go for ENORMOUS lamps, they should not effect the cooling much. I know there's a warning in the handbook about mounting things in front of the grill, but thats mostly to cover Volvo's back in case you overdo it! Have fun with the wiring and relays etc! If you look on the inside of the left front wing, near the coil, there's a little flat black plastic box, the cover slides upwards, and under is an electrical busbar, with spare connections on it for connecting accessories. Don't forget to put a decent fuse in the system, you can get inline fuseholders quite cheaply.
