Computer problems continue

Still having problems. My computer is still unstable and not allowing me to do much. It just keeps freezing up on me any time I run Pro Tools. I want to reinstall Windows 98SE just to get it stable again. My problem is I cannot find my product code. I have the disc but can't find my product code. Anyway to find the product code on my machine? I figure I will reinistall Windows 98, get my machine stable. Then, install XP, but I'll also need to update my Pro Tools as I'm running 5.1.1 right now. So, I'll have to buy and download from here I guess? Any suggestions on finding my product code and if my course of action makes sense would be appreciated.

check out this link on the tech tv website, it will give you some ideas on finding your pdt code. i think there is a place in the registry in win98 where it is actually stored and you can look at it but again youd need to do some more research on web ,24330,3676249,00.html

If you installed XP over 98, that registry entry is gone. I'll also add, the last thing you want to do is an upgrade install from 98 or ME. I've done many XP installs, and upgrades from 9x are notorious. You can, by the way, do a full install with an XP upgrade disk. Boot to the XP CD. When you get to the point where XP tells you it can't find a previous version, insert your original 98 disk. XP will move forward from that point into a fresh, full install. You will not need to know your 98 key number.
