If you want to mic an amp without disturbing family members and neighbors you could consider buying an isolation cabinet. These are made especially for these types of situations. Randall and Grendel both make them among other companies. I may pick one up myself. But to be honest I like the sound of my X3 so much that I don't know what the point would be.

totally agree on making a sound your own, just posting what some people were able to "tweak" the Fractal to. I am writing my own patch's now for it, clean rhythm sounds, crunchy rhythm, cool effected delay stuff, and a killer lead sound i just wanted you guys to hear a direct recording from the fractal and what it sounds like. i to was blown away by it, and actually didn't believe it would be that good, that somehow these guys were doing something different. when i got mine i plugged my guitar into the DI and just started fiddling with the pre sets it comes with and was just blown away. and i truly did like my POD, and even amplitube. the effects, delay, chorus, flangers etc are also on par with an eventide box, just wonderfully lush and killer, the amp sims are just the icing on the cake in this box and i am not some great guitar player, much more of a songwriter, and i only have a cheap PRS electric, cost me 600 bucks, stock pickups etc. this box just kills with even that. also great support from the company. yeah its alot of money, but when i tallied an X3 pro at 700 bucks, and the 2 plugs i wanted, overloud TH1 at 300, and amplitude 2 t 300 etc it was about the same apparently running this thru and amp or PA FOH is supposed to be great to anyway, sorry for the long post, and being off topic. just one of those pieces that exceeds expectations for once

Comment: I own a bunch of Line6 stuff. I have no idea what the frak is going on with the "bundles" "VST" and "PodFarm" stuff. I have a UX1 and an XT Live, but it gives me a headache to look into "what I need to do to use either as a VST" or "what I need to do to use the bass models when I record with the XT Live". "Get the blah blah interface and you can use the Gearbox with Monkey upgrade with your UX1 if you only use it on tuesday unless you have the Gold bundle with a X3 after updating the blah blah blah"... ahg.. Ack.

Actually, at this point I*think* I've figured out their .. schema.. but am aggravated that I can't (I don't think?) use the bass features of my UX1 Gearbox with my PodXT Live. So if I want to record guitar, I have to use the PodXT Live, but then have to jump through ASIO hoops if I want to use the bass features of the UX1 - for that matter, have them both plugged in, blah blah... Very annoying. It would appear I could buy some "pack" to have the bass features in the XT (again, "I think?"), but I'd feel ridiculous paying to get something I ("in theory") already have? Oh well. I like their stuff in general, I think they were the first to get it right, but they've got some competition now so I'm no so sure their insular strategy makes a lot of sense these days.
