bump... for importance... My thoughts on this in summary: 1) MIDI items need to be freely sizeable containers (loop mode off). That can be enlarged/shortened from left and right. That you can add or remove extra space from the left side just by dragging. 2) The loop item mode is useful, but currently simplistic for anything but the most basic loop tasks. And I think this also restricts the functionality we want in the previous point (1). The loop item mode can be reworked on the new item-container foundation, with definable loop boundaries independent of the item boundaries. 3) Ghost items is a much more powerful way to handle loops anyway, because you can space them apart in different sections of the arrangement.
