Audio slow down and noise on playback

I had similar issues with my Ozone on a notebook. For me the solution was to disable WiFi. Try that, or pull network cable out.

Network disabled, no IRQ conflicts...

Problem solved 

The IDE Hard Drive that I was streaming audio from was NOT in DMA transfer mode. It was in PIO mode-whatever that is. This may have happened when I installed it in the box. Since it isn't a SATA drive, I had to piggy back it on the IDE cable that goes to the CD/DVD drive and then tell the bios where to find it. Maybe the bios defaults to PIO mode? I feel fortunate that I kind of figured this out since I'm a guitar player, not a computer guy. Thanks for all your help and support...I guess I learned something along the way. Now, back to the music.

there sure is a lot of crap to weed thru. Anyway, I found this site and it's how I found the problem. I'm sure there are lots of sites like it out there, but he's got a lot of good reading and stuff, so I bookmarked it. I guess the thing I'll remember is to not overlook the obvious. It was one of his first things to check, and although my situation was kind of unique ( I added a IDE HD to a system that was set up for SATA)it nailed the problem.
