HD Power comparison

Does anyone know if a HD 2 system is as powerful as a Mix Core with 3 extra mix farm cards in pure DSP and plug in instanciation terms. I know that HD can go 192k etc etc but I'm just interested in the plug in instanciation capabilities. and if anyone has any real experience of them both. Regards Stick

I've read that HD plugins are actually smaller or more productive under PT6 & OSX yielding more instantiations per chip. (Do I believe everything I read?) LOL!

I think that they would be about equal. You may actually get just a tad more with the mix system, but I think the general rule of thumb is that one process card equals two farms.

The other thing you need to factor in is that HD is much more stable than Mix, especially in the PCI bus department. I was no stranger to -6042's on my former Mix system (I'll admit I was pushing it pretty hard). Doing similar, and more challenging work on my HD system, I have yet to see a -6042. That side benefit of HD was pretty important to me. Lee Blaske
