FW Porsche

Is anyone using the Porsche FW drives? I need to pick up a new drive and these are fairly new, to me anyway. Any info would be much appreciated.

A friend of mine picked one up last month. Niftly little thing, 7200rpm, buss-powered, 80GB, the whole nine yards. He uses it for audio and no problems so far...

Hard drives that get their power from the firewire bus are bus powered (in other words, they don't have an external power supply).

looks like the mobile porsche (bus powered) only come in 4200rpm flavor. of course, you can dump the drive and replace it with one of these:

I don't think you'd be able to do that...the power consumption of a 7200 RPM drive is higher than a 4200 RPM drive. So the porsche box may not suck enough juice from the firewire port. I know they are coming out with some 7200 RPM buss powered firewire drives...but i'm not sure if they are a special low power consuption 7200 drive or if it's just a standard 7200 drive.
