probs with PT 5.0 with out 001 interface-many questions

Is it okay to us pt5.0 with out digi 001 interface? I can't make more than one track record enable. After recording the one track, computer won't let me add other track.

What Digi hardware do you have? The only 5.x version of Pro Tools that runs standalone (wwithout any Digidesign hardware) is Pro Tools Free, which is the most recent version, but based on Pro Tools LE v5.0.1. The last version of Pro Tools PowerMix that ran standalone was v4.3.1 and 4.3.2.

I am new to 5.0 le and did not know that it would not run without the interface 001 I had 4.3.1 with AM III ( 8 tracks ) before and thought I could up date with 5.o LE. Is that the only way is with the digi 001?
