download the lastest full version here and see if that fixes your problem. 1 more thing if this dosen't fix the problem, post your log file for dvd2svcd as it can unlock some information needed to troubleshoot. also do a search as you'll prolly find your answer with a bit of reading.

I have SVCDs with Subs, chapters and selectable audio and they work on my tandalone-player without any problem.

@Labersack: ESS Chip?

The first one (CAT DV-988) has an ESS-Chipset. The second one (Hiteker HE-1200) has a chipset, too. ;-) But I don't know which one, as I haven't opened it yet.
