outboard compressors with reaper?

hey guys its my first post bought I bought reaper when it first came out and I have got to say, It has made life a lot easier. I am building some compressors and would like to integrate them into my mixes is there anyway to patch the compressor in and have the delay compensated so that I can use it in real time and not just record to another track and drag it into place. or for this to happen do i need a small console thanks any routing help for this would be greatly appreciated

Delay problems how? If you use ReaInsert, you will have to use Record: Output on the spesific channel if you will like to print the result to disk. REAPER should automatically advance the track containing the ReaInsert plugin by the measured/typed amount of samples. If you are riding the compressor, there could be a delay in audible response depending on your latency setting.

Another idea I had while sitting in my restroom: Do you use some lookahead feature in your outgear hardware?
