Hi there all, I have an extrenal HP dvd writer (dvd200) DVD+RW, I've gone through the cloning a DVD-9 to a DVD-5 in doom9 guides, now the DVD plays just fine on the PC, but playing it on a Stand-alone DVD player doesn't work. I have "The Matrox" DVD - a ripped DVD - and I've did a copy and it plays normaly on my DVD player which proves to me that my DVD player can read DVD+R and DVD+RW. The only error that I get while doing the guide steps is that in the "IfoEdit" after I do all the steps and now the VIDEO_VT is on my HD, and trying to play it through IfoEdit, it gives me the following message "No Valid DVD-Video Volume could be located. Do you still want to continue?" and I say yes, the movie plays perfectly, and even as I said in the PC it plays correctly but in the DVD player it can't read the dvd. What did I miss here?? By the way I've used NERO 5.5.9.9 to do the dvd copy !! Thank you in advance.
Yes, I have. when I insert the DVD in the PC it opens the DVD application and plays the movie. I've tried the following programs and all of them played it (PowerDVD, Windows Media Player 9, WinDVD) Thank you for the reply
As you said, earlier you settop was able to read dvd+r. Are you using name brand media or cheap generic media? ...This is the only problem I could think of right now
--------------------- hope my fake smile works again
I'm using HP DVD+R and HP DVD+RW, I've copied the movie "The Matrox" on both types and the DVD Player Read it prefectly. it's a minstory, isn't it !! :)
Sorry DeepaDVD, you've got me wrong, I'll put it this way. I wanted to make sure that my DVD player can read DVD+R and DVD+RW, and I have bought a "The Matrox" DVD from singapor -a ripped dvd- not the orignal, so through NERO 5.5.9.9 I make a dvd copy on both R and RW DVDs, they both played on my player, so I was happy that my player can read both types. but when I do my own ripped DVDs, in the PC it would play correctly, but it can't play on the stand alone. going through the copying steps in doom9, was very clear. After I make all the steps and before I burn the movie, I play it on IfoEdit, it gives me the following message "No Valid DVD-Video Volume could be located. Do you still want to continue?", it plays fine with I say "yes" to this message, but do you guess that this is the error that makes it unreadable on the player?? I hope I explained it much easier. Thank you again for your support.
I have read your article and I am not sure that I can give you any help. I have a Ricoh +DVDRW and I burn my disc fine and can play on my Pioneer DVD standalone DVD player. My process is I ripped the DVD with DVD Decrypter and strip stream or VobID with IfoEdit and compress with ReMPEG2 if the file is too big to fit in DVD-5 and burn with Nero and everytime it work fine. But one step may be necessary everytime before I burn the disc, use the IfoEdit to open the VIDEO_TS.IFO File just creat and strike 'Get VTS sector' to correct the information on the IFO file before you burn, hope you solve your problem.
yauyuming, thank you for your reply. I've done what you said but didn't work out. I will give you one more note about my process, I don't do the ReMPEG coz the files fit a DVD+R, so I just skip this step. Do you think this causes the probelm ?
