Ok - I still seem to have a bit of a problem. It seems that the incoming midi notes are getting recorded as they are sent unmapped from my keyboard, then the KeyMap plug in will remap those during playback according to the preset I select. But I want the notes to be recorded already in the remapped mode. I could add an additional track for "mapped midi drums" and record the output of that track, then send it to my Jamstix track. But is there an easier way using one track? It would be great if I could specify the re-mapper to be "pre-record" and Jamstix to be "post-record." Essentially I'm trying to simulate a large drum kit using only 8 pads. Recording first kick / snare, then hi hat or ride, then fills etc.

Thanks for the reply IXix!!! I got your plug in working pretty well. I'm having a different problem now... (it seems they keep coming today) When I set the track recording mode to "Record: Output (MIDI)" then Jamstix "eats" the midi notes. They get played by Jamstix, but nothing gets recorded. If I bypass Jamstix, then I can record the notes from your plug in as I'd like, but of course then I get no sounds. Ugh! I posted a message in the rayzoon forums to see how I can get Jamstix to cooperate. I report back when I get something...

Well, Jamstix doesn't output the notes that come in manually. Only the notes that the Jamstix engine plays are output. I guess I'm going with one track for the recorded notes and one track for Jamstix.

... but that doesn't work either, because I use "record midi, overdub"... damn! i guess i'm back to using presets on my keyboard. it's not unusable, just cumbersome.

Haven't tried this but I think it might work: 1. Set up a MIDI input track with KeyMap on it. 2. Send MIDI from the KeyMap track to another one set to record output. 3. Send MIDI from the recording track to yet another track with Jamstix on it. That way your MIDI passes through KeyMap only once and should be recorded correctly, overdubs and all, on the recording track which will be driving Jamstix. Possibly :D
