I have a couple of questions about the use of FIPM....1st scenario, let's suppose I have just recorded 1 complete take (beginning to end of song) I then punch in 2 fixes in roughly the same spot in the middle of the song of slightly different lengths, one on top of the other. During this time I have failed to turn FIPM on.....now the question, is there a way to make these takes appear as if FIPM was on (3 separate and distinct lanes) before I started tracking these three takes ?? Next question.....Is there a way to make just the highlighted take play without having to mute the other takes that have occurred within the track. This is assuming FIPM is on for all the takes. Thanks a bunch !! David B
Right-click on the item containing the takes you recorded accidentally and then go to "Take->Explode all takes to new tracks". This way 3 new tracks will be created with the 3 takes but in form of single items. Just right-click on your source track and set it now to FIPM. Move your 3 newly created items into your source track and run the action: "Auto-reposition items in free positioning mode". That should be all. Ah... you have to be clear about takes and items: Items contain takes! And FIPM is an ability of your tracks not items. It's like telling your track "hey, now you're going to play everything bottom/top not just the biggest item or the selected take...ah and don't record in takes... give me single items!"
Mercado, Thanx for the quick response but I still am not clear about my second question.....after I have multiple takes in FIPM is there a convenient way to solo an individual take besides muting each one I don't want to hear...seems like a lot of mousing to accomplish something fairly simple.... DB
Let me figure something out before I can answer: multiple takes = multiple items with takes? I mean, you're telling me that you have some items with takes one on top another in FIPM?
Let me restate the question ....is it possible to solo individual items in FIPM without having to individually mute the items that you don't want to hear...the way it stands now you have to individually mute every item you dont want to hear by right clicking and go into item settings and mute every track but the track you want soloed DB
I just ordered a printed copy of the user manual.....I hate lengthy reads on a computer screen wears my 50 yr. old eyes out !! I am sure my questions will become fewer and perhaps a little more articulate as I get into the printed manual at length... David B
oh, and i thought this issue was why you started this thread ..;-) let's hope that this annoying behaviour gets corrected in future versions, always having to mute every item by hand really isn't convenient. fingers crossed..
