Low end - C3 Multiband vs Reaxcomp

I've noticed that if I solo the low end portion of the mix (lowest frequencies coming through the multiband comp) with reaxcomp on the master buss that it sounds bloated despite my having rolled off or high-passed a lot of the rumble. Last night I tried using C3 multiband with roughly the same crossover points and soloing the low end doesn't sound so muddy. Does anyone else notice this? Could be a difference in the way the two tools work. I would think reaxcomp would be the best of the two. Maybe it's just me and I don't know what the heck I'm doing! Hello... by C3 you mean the slimslowslider multiband Compressor. I use it a bit, it's quite instructive to compare it to the ReaXcomp, they do seem to do pretty much the same thing Can't say I've noticed any difference, but then I'm not sure I could even dial up 'equivalent' settings on the two, setting the crossover is presented in a very different way. Nothing to add to your thread really - just interested in other people using C3 hamish

I didn't A/B tried C3 against ReaXcomp, but some years ago, i was prefering Buzroom Grancomp3 over the C3, which is also free. Nowadays, i tend to use ReaXcomp, or JB Broadcast, which is 3band, free, and has some nice mid/side processing features. (One thing, fyi, the FL multiband compressor is the sss C3 with new clothes).
