Surround Sound

Was just wondering if Reaper will support surround sound in the near future. I am impressed with reaper's quality/capiblilities but the only thing i wish it supported was surround sound mixing/mastering.

I have no idea on Reaper and native surround sound support, but just in case you didn't know (or for others searching surround sound)

although the dev has put a serious amount of effort in creating the 'acousmodules', they just don't sound right to me. no idea why that might be, but i'm personally not getting all the resolution on the 5.1 panner that i would expect. however, it's the best we've got for now, and they are free...

Actually reaper works fine for some variants of surround sound, it all depends on what you mean by supporting surround sound. Reaper currently handles multichannel wav just fine and also records to multichannel tracks. Multichannel vsts works great and can be used with automation. It does not have a built in surround panner but this could be handled by a vst plugin instead (and it is in my case). Actually I went from Samplitude to Reaper mainly because I finally was able to do surround in a simple and efficient (and less crash prone) way! /Johan

Does the Waves S360 works with Reaper as a surround sound panner ? I can't manage to get it to work.

Hmmm.... I might have to investigate some of the ideas suggested in this topic. Surroud mixing is one thing I am really looking forward to. I have done a number of live recordings now that I mixed in surround in ProTools but I'd love to be able to do these in Reaper with full surround panning and metering.
