Syncing Click Track.?

Hello.. Question if I can..How would I lock the metronome in Reaper to an external drum machine..?..I'm running the external drum machine into Reaper (analog inputs to audio track ) but would this be done via midi..? Thanks

snatch. heres an easy peasy way if your laying the drum machine down first. 1. set reap to same bpm as drum machine. this is important. 2. record drum machine out into an audio trak. 3. then just line up the recording visually to the grid useing the mouse. (ZOOM IN !! to align perfectly.) saves mucking around with sync. heres another way. (you have midi inputs on your sound device. the emu right ?? midi out of drum machine to midi in of emu.)) 1. as before set reap to same bpm as drum machine. 2. record midi out of drum machine into reap as a midi trak. (BIG NOTE...MIDI DRUMS ARE NORMALLY ON MIDI CHANNEL 10) 3. now plug in a free drum sample player. eg i use drumcore free. ps..heres a neat trik with midi drum traks to make em more interesting. record the midi drum trak. plug in sample player as per normal to hear normal stuff like kik n snare etc etc. then dupe midi trak to a free trak..once again plug in free sample player.. BUT THIS TIME.. 1. go into item properties for the cloned midi trak after loading in sample player again. AND 2. start mucking around with SEMITONES !! positive and negative values. whole numbers. eg +3, -4 , +7, -2 etc etc. and youll hear different drum sounds you can mix in depending on sample player and its samples. you can then edit for variance.

No, if you've done it like Reaperdeeper proposed then Reaper is the slave and your drummy is the master. That means the drummy must send the sync. -Data

I used the "brother" of it (the MMT-8) a long time. It should work. -Data

Yes Snatchman, referring to Fabian's post I forgot to mention: the MMT-8 "understood" just SPP, but not MTC, so I reckon it's the same with the SR-16. -Data

Speaking of time codes:

You shouldn't really be using time code at all for this. Ideally you would use MIDI Clock, with Reaper as master and the drum machine as slave.

Hello.Thanks guys.. Ok..asumming I've set everything correctly, Reaper the Master, ( midi cable out to SR-16 in), do I have to have a midi cable returning from the SR-16 back to Reaper ( PCI card)..?
