MOTU 828

I need to playback 24/48 bit audio from my iBook (for gigs), and I was thinking of getting the 828 and using firewire from the ibook. This seems like a no-brainer (although I would LOVE to get an mLAN :-) What I wanted to know from you xperts is if I can use this with my DIGI001 for more inputs, and can I use it with things like Reason. It has the ADAT stuff on it, so I am assuming that I can run it along the DIGI001, plug the ADAT into the 001 and get 8 extra inputs, and I can have my "mac internal" as the 828 and then output reason through it into the ADAT inputs. Would all this work? if it did it would be a real win for me. Paul.

The 828 is not compatable with any Digidesign product. Digidesign software only works with Digidesign hardware. Stinks huh? Expecially since M-audio is now making Mac compatible hardware too.

This isn't really what i was asking for. I just want to use the 828 for the normal macintosh audio out, and then plug that into the DIGI001 with ADAT or SP/DIF. I don't want to use PT to play back directly through the 828.

Paul, I have been researching the "ways to use reason" And I have found that if the audio interface you are using is asio compatible, it will work. That is assuming you want to run it while running ptle. So what I am saying is, if you can use the 828 with an asio driver, you should be able to run it and PTLE w/001 all at once. I guess it would be the same as using the RME card with reason lightpipe to 001. If this isn't the case I would like to know as well...
