...and hesitate to ask it. I recorded succesfully several tracks and rendered it..no problems. BUT there are 8 sec silence before the music starts and I want to cut/delete 5sec away to decrease silent time to 3sec. How can I do it??? Ctrl+del just cuts the items of selected area..and I want to delete the area! Meny music softwares the trick is done just to select and del....I must have misunderstood something about the logic of reaper :) Ken

Turn on ripple editing all tracks (Options menu) Position the edit cursor 5 seconds in with no items selected. Press S to split Marquee (right click drag) to select all items left of cursor. Press Delete That should do it. Don't forget to turn ripple editing off when finished. This can be made faster with custom actions (if you need to do it often) but this should work for now ... :)
Make a time selection and render that (see the Render to File... dialog). Then you can decide exactly how much silence you want before and after.
